Transfer of Power

A barrage of gunshots shatters the majestic quiet of the White House on a busy Washington morning among the bustle of visitors and the quick flow of government professionals. Using a bloody bloodbath that claimed the lives of several innocent bystanders, a gang of terrorists has invaded the Executive Mansion. The president is rescued and transferred to his subterranean bunker by the Secret Service's swift operations, but not before almost a hundred hostages are captured.

One guy is brought in to cut through the deluge of frenzied reactions and political agendas surrounding the catastrophic situation, while politicians and military authorities quarrel over how to engage with the terrorists. Leading counterterrorism agent for the CIA, Mitch Rapp, breaks into the White House and quickly learns that the president is not as secure as Washington's ruling class had believed. Before the terrorists can remove the president from the shelter of his bunker, Rapp must move quickly to rescue the hostages while moving discreetly through the White House's hallways and underground tunnels and approaching the adversary frighteningly close. Rapp discovers something terrifying in a race against time that can shake Washington to its foundation: someone in his own administration is scheming to make sure his effort to save himself doesn't succeed.
